ASKAL has been getting ahead lately as far as script is concerned.
So far full of macho bullshit and angst… And gangstas.
Yeah… gangstas. There seems to be alot of them in places where poverty is rampant and opportunities are limited. Dont you notice? Or perhaps disagree with me… since the gangsta topic is a broad one… and many books have been written on it with different perspectives.
- USA has more crime and gang activity than Canada.
- In Canada, the big cities like Toronto and Vancouver are the gangsta zones (though not as bad as USA or any other place in the world). Big cities = high cost of living and shitty wages (unless youre in a management position or have your own company).
- Places like North Korea and Zimbabwe were people starve. Their "news" doesn't report it but other sources report that their military and police are behaving in a gang-like manner. Activities like harrassing and extorting people for basic things like food and clothing are common practice.
As far as exposure to gangs is concerned, I actually had two offers from different street gangs in the Philippines. (who were in the same area but had NEUTRAL relations. lol… God knows when the neutrality will change… lol) I repeat… POTENTIAL MEMBERSHIP OFFERS. I'M IN NO WAY AN EX-GANG MEMBER!!!
Since I had a friend back then who is a top member of a prestigious street gang (maybe 5k members or more), my membership was offered to me in exchange for 20 punches behind the knees… which is a "discount" compared to 5 vs 1 where you're not allowed to fight back.
The other gang (a smaller one with around 30-50 members) offered me membership if their leader deemed me satisfactory enough after "testing" me by making me fight him one on one.
Even as early as back then, I realized that joining a street gang will only give me more trouble. As the RIVAL GANGS and POLICE will be after me all the time and I'd be constantly living in fear EVERYWHERE I GO.
Joining a gang doesnt make you a tougher person and you have more chances of getting injured or killed than being in the military or in the mines or being a truck driver. To be a successful gangsta, you need brains and you MUST BE a ruthless alpha male (which only makes up the gang leaders).
So remember kids… Being a gangsta is a dead end and not worth it.
