Anybody is gonna be hard-pressed against multiple opponents. There are many variables affecting strikes… such as speed, strength, distance, angle, pain-tolerance, flexibility, clothing, height, weight, and many others… A striker should make sure his//her strike does heavy damage. So… if you're practicing any strike-based martial art (karate, tkd, muai thai, kungfu, etc…), make sure you're training in a school that does moderate to full contact sparring at least for 15 minutes of classtime. That way, you'll learn to improve your striking power. If you're studying a striking art and your school barely does sparring and focuses more on kata and choreographed self-defence, you are wasting your time and money.

However, the best defence against multiple opponents is to RUN!!! Run as far and as fast as you can. Even if you're Matt Hughes or Tito Ortiz or anybody else… multiple opponents, you should RUN!!!

But if you get cornered and you happen to be a BJJ person, just take down the biggest attacker and make sure you break an arm or a leg or choke him//her out… FAST!!!

At least once his//her friends are done stomping your ass to oblivion, you'd not feel as bad… since you know that you seriously injured one of your attackers. :)
