The General Union is a union for English language teachers in Japan. They have a reputation for aggressive "methods". When this episode was published, the magazine was sent a fax demanding that the union's name be removed. Of course, it was too late for the print version, but Bad English is also on that magazine's website, so we removed the word "General" on the web version and Spleen wrote an appropriate apology that was printed in the following month's issue. This episode provoked a few responses from union members, including one threat to "rape our asses". Which kind of proved our point, don't you think?
