BGH#308 Kicking Him While He's Down

Wow, David Willis actually linked me back, I totally didn't expect that. To me, that's like a huge deal. Thanks man!

This page is a little experimental. For the first and third panels I used un-inked pencil sketches for the backgrounds and colored them with the brush tool.

Two reasons I hate doing backgrounds are 1) I don't have the patience for a ruler, and 2) It doesn't mesh well with the way I color my foreground.

But by doing lose sketch backgrounds and coloring them separately from the main art removes both those problems. The fallback is that they look…well sketchy (dur!). But I figure drawing some kind of background is still a step in a good direction, over digital backgrounds or just no backgrounds at all.

Anyway, moving on…I'm thinking about doing MWF and SUNDAY comics too. But i'm wondering, if I DID start updating on Sundays as well, would you guys prefer it if I did a stand-alone off-joke page that may or may not have anything to do with the current plot of BGH, or would you just prefer a standard storyline page?
