What really happened?

Amanda was sleeping, with her head on my shoulder.
I heard the vibration from her phone, on the table, followed by the unknown "knock-knock-knock"

I thought that the two noises were independent.
That someone had knocked on the sliding door behind us.

I freaked out and jumped to my feet, ready to react.
Amanda asked what was wrong and then started laughing once I told her the story along with my fears.

"It was just my phone" she said through the laughter.

"What if someone was out there?"
"Well…first, I would turn on the back light….and….didn't really think past step 1"

I just thought this punchline had more bite to it.
