Passing notes is a perfectly acceptable method to keep in character knowledge seperate from out of character knowledge. By using notes, a GM can make sure that the only characters who know something are the ones that should know it. Players can also give notes to the GM, usually if they want to do something they don't want the other characters to know about or if they have a bit of backstory that they don't want to reveal just yet but feel that the GM should know about.

This usually makes players that aren't involved in the note-passing suspicious. Sometimes with good reason.

Redux Notes: The next update will get the Redux comics closer to the originals in one hilarious page of funny looking faces. It's the only reason I allowed myself to fall so far behind; I knew the whole mess would only make up one comic.
