History:
Ethan is the only child of a United States Marine Corps officer and his wife, a model and actress.

Cassandra St. Ives was formerly known as Chrissy Chandler, a child actress from the family drama, The Hart Department where she played Georgie Hart, the youngest child of a mild-mannered heart surgeon. After a successful run throughout the 1970s, Cassandra fell away from the Hollywood limelight into a quite life with her family in Hawai'i. It was there, while attending the University of Hawai'i at Manoa, she met Evan St. Ives - an engineering student and military enthusiast. They fell in love and got married during their senior year. Immediately after graduation, Evan expressed an interest in joining the U.S. Marines. He enlisted straight away and became eligible for the Marine Corps officer program.

A decorated officer, Lieutenant Evan St. Ives served three tours in the Persian Gulf in counterintelligence. After successful service, Evan remained at home with his wife and decided to start a family in Hawai'i. In 1996, Ethan was born and Evan contemplated discharging from the Marines as Ethan grew closer to attending school. In 2001, right around the advent of the 9/11 crisis, Evan decided to remain in the Marines; moreover, he participated in the military campaign in Afghanistan called Operation Enduring Freedom. During the course of this long operation; Lieutenant Evan St. Ives was killed in action. Christine, a young widow and devasted, withdrew yet again, sold her home in Honolulu and returned to her childhood home in Studio City, California to begin a new life with five year-old, Ethan.

When Ethan began kindergarten, Christine toyed with the idea of returning to acting and pursued small modeling and acting roles to make ends meet, yet she wanted to maintain her new alias and escape the stigmatism of her childhood acting days. Though roles came, they were far and few and she desperately wanted to act again. An opportunity to do some modeling work came through, which proved lucrative. Yet in due time, she was fielding offers for more risqu© projects, which led to being cast in "soft core" porn movies. Later, that work quickly gravitated to more graphic pornography. She refused to disclose to Ethan her methods of making a living and for a long while, he never knew the career path she started to follow. He was under the impression that his mother was acting again, even seeing her in a few commercials.

Ethan grew up quietly in Studio City. As he grew older, Ethan began asking about his father (He was still under the impression that his father was serving overseas and not deceased). Ethan would eventually come to learn more about him through his grandfather, Colonel Lawrence St. Ives (who was diagnosed with cancer at the time). Colonel St. Ives was active in Ethan's life during his final days and would send for Ethan to spend summers with him in Hawai'i. While spending time with his grandfather, Ethan also developed a fascination with the military - especially guns. Colonel St. Ives gave Ethan a considerable amount of books to read up on weapons and many wars in U.S. and World History. Before Ethan began his fourth grade year, he spent one last summer with his grandfather, who during his last days, gave Ethan a locked chest, which belonged to his father. Colonel St. Ives told Ethan that his father wanted him to have all these possessions in the box but did not want to give him the key to its contents until "the proper time". Ethan then watched as his grandfather, dressed in his uniform, passed away quietly in his favorite chair. Ethan returned to Los Angeles with his father's locked chest, and his grandmother, former actress Theresa Chandler, to come live with them.

By the time Ethan returned to Los Angeles, Ethan's mother was making a full-blown career doing pornographic movies under the stage name, 'Candy Apple'. Her mother returned to open up an acting studio in the Valley and thus, bought a newer, bigger home in Studio City for her and Ethan. Ethan would begin his fourth grade year and developed an interest during the fall in Little League Baseball. His mother figured being active in sports would keep Ethan occupied and uninterested in his mother's acting career. In his first try at the fall/winter league tryouts, he was placed on a team with Bobby Summers, a long-time standout in the league. Ethan began to develop a fan base in the league for stealing bases and being a big playmaker defensively. Unfortunately, Ethan's newfound popularity began to bring a rivalry between him and Bobby Summers, whose home run and slugger achievements took a back seat to this vibrant newcomer. The grudge would continue throughout the fourth grade and Bobby Summers bullied Ethan at every opportunity. Also in fourth grade, Ethan did a team report on the Revolutionary War and even hand-made a chess-set type mock up of the Battle of Yorktown that was quite impressive it remains on display at Robert E. Elementary to this day. It was during this year that he met and befriended Russell Wu, who helped him create the mock up. The two would become long-time best friends.

Later that spring, Ethan was immediately added to a Little League squad, only this time he and Bobby were placed on opposing teams. The grudge between both boys reached a peak during the final game of the year when Ethan's team defeated Bobby's in a game that determined who would represent the Valley for the Little League World Series in Pennsylvania (A classic Bobby Summers fought all his career to be in). That August, Ethan's team would also bring the title back to the Valley - It was the first summer Ethan would spend without his grandfather in which he publicly dedicated the game to him. The notoriety, though humbled by Ethan, compounded his rivalry with Bobby Summers. It reached a serious peak during the early part of their fifth grade year when Bobby alleged that Ethan's mother was a "porn star" and not a "real" actress. Ethan, being non the wiser, decided at that point he could no longer tolerate Bobby's bullying and reported him to the principal. Unfortunately, before the principal could confront or punish Bobby, he died of kidney failure during a district-wide epidemic of E. coli poisoning.

The death of Bobby Summers continued to affect Ethan throughout his fifth grade year. He decided to withdraw from baseball and spent much of his time resuming his knowledge of the military; even making his own mock ups of several historic battles in World History. Moreover, he took an interest in getting to know his grandmother and spent more time at her home than his own with his workaholic mother.

Once Ethan graduated from elementary school he was left with no huge summer plans, until his grandmother asked him to take part in her Dramatic Arts Academy. He commissioned his friend Russell to also participate and both boys used their creative skills to help build and design sets and backdrops. Ethan also did a bit of acting, which he enjoyed very much especially when he noticed and admired from afar Vanessa Castro, a standout at the academy. Vanessa would gain a secret admirer that summer, never knowing it was Ethan.

Ethan currently attends Covington Middle School and has become quick friends with the Atwaters and continues to pine for Vanessa's affections.

Skills, abilities and interests:
Academically, Ethan is an above average student. Not quite advanced for the gifted program, yet skillful in such subjects as math and his favorite subject, history. His intellect stems from early years of literacy and learning the game of chess from his grandfather.

Ethan is an exceptional athlete. What he lacks in size and strength, he makes up for in speed, endurance and agility. During his Little League Baseball career, Ethan smashed multiple records for base stealing and triples. Defensively, he played shortstop, which allowed him to heighten his ability to gauge body language, reaction and time to movement. He tried out and successfully joined the middle school soccer squad based on these abilities, yet he has not been able to translate these skills to be an upper level player in the game (Like his peers, Teddy Atwater and Seth Rosenhaus).

Ethan has a fondness for military science, particularly, weaponry and firearms. For a boy his age, Ethan is well-read on military strategy and the rationale for wartime. His grandfather helped him earn a junior membership pass with the National Rifle Association. Presently, Ethan has begun practicing the use of a firearm.
