Not sure what that part was supposed to do, but it whatever it is it won't be doing it anymore (and probably never did!)
Yeah, Blake's kind of been skimping a bit, he's not exactly one for taking pride in his work. Safe to say, Picka's inexperience would not be the main cause of stuff falling apart!
It's sort of just a thing across this comic and Drachronon, that a lot of the weird technology/magic hybrid-y stuff comes from goblins, a lot of tinkerers and the like in their history!
