The guy being choked is Captain Antilles (apparently no relation to the rebel pilot with the same last name at the end of the film) who was a rebel helping Princess Leia spirit the stolen Death Star plans to the Alliance. Yeah, I know most, if not all of you reading this already know, but I'm just trying to help the less geeky who stop by. Believe it or not, some people have only seen the film once!
