My greatest concern with getting technical or scientificy is that someone will call me out on the wording.

Thanks to years of schooling whenever I bring up "pounds" a nagging little voice in my head says, "Pounds mass? Pounds force? Slug?* CURSE YOU, ENGLISH SYSTEM!" They lied, you know. They used to tell me everyone will use metric one day soon. It was supposed to be the measurement system of the future, but there are a significant number of big companies that use the English system and show no signs of change, and though I think in terms of pounds and inches and feet and miles, it's a lot easier to work with metric.


*I propose a new nautical unit called the "sea slug".
