HAHAHAHA! that's right Hark, they're going to Greece to snuff some Nazi ops.

  • harkovast at

I sort of assumed these guys would be fighting the Japanese, but people are saying that this might be supporting Europe?
Mind you, from the sound of things these guys might well be at war with Brave1102!

  • PIT_FACE at

thanks alot guys! we do our best to deliver! hope you'll enjoy it in the future as well.

    Peipei: Thanks!!

Abt_Nihil: Heh, thanks! And we promise that our story is …deliciously cunning. :p Even if the savants point at where keys to it are, we feel it still can keep its secrets for a good period of time XD

  • Peipei at

    Awesome! :D

Whoa, seems like I lost my way and wandered into some military otaku / tech nerd gathering?? @_@
I just wanna point out that I don't care much about technical details (as long as it's not on an Ed-Wood-level of absurdity). I care about good story and stuff :D

But yeah, great splash page! Great water! Great aircraft carrier! Great angle!

  • Tantz_Aerine at

Nicotine: We think so too! :D

    Nergal: Thanks! :3

great looking page i love how you rendered the water!

Darwin: That's right! It is just a term for the ship. :p And this particular carrier remains purposefully nameless and as much as possible its make/type is hidden, off panel ;) However if you really want to know I can look it up and show you all of it in a photo of the time.

And yes action is definitely upcoming ;) They aren't expecting much of it, but it's coming!

Oh by the way: Y'all feel free to technical assist while we are in the area of WWII high tech war wise! We will be making edits for when this thing goes to print. Because it will >:D And all tech assistants will get a mention (I am sure Deidre will agree on that one!)

But because (everyone who knows me and how my plots work knows that) some stuff Deidre and I have designed rely on some little things that would look UNUSUAL to the eyes of those who know where to look, could you PLEASE PQ us until we set up a forum for these discussions? Just so this still remains part mystery as the story goes on, and those things we HAVE missed are sorted from those things we have let in the story :p

We promise to let you know where things will be finetuned upon edit ;)

"Aircraft Carriers" is the technical term for the ships. Heh, just thought I might throw that one back at you there! HEE! Having spent a total of approximately three years on those things…I thought I might give a technical assist. I wonder which carrier this was that it was supporting Europe? (Not that much of a history buff…bet my mom could tell me though).

I'm looking forward to the action upcoming. I mean y'know, it's war, so there's bound to be plenty of action.

Great page! Keep it up guys!

    El Cid: So true! :D

  • El Cid at

The water looks pretty… but then it's not covered in burning oil and pilot guts yet!

  • Tantz_Aerine at

bravo1102: Aw, no I won't. But I did write a mile-long comment that was completely unnecessary and around-about, and probably boring anyway. XD

  • Tantz_Aerine at

bravo1102: Actually bravo that's not really accurate. Let me then fix the story right back up for you!

It is true that the mustang was NOT made for airfract carrier use, and it was never truly navalized, BUT: due to urgency, it was decided to modify a Mustang and investigate its performance in carrier operations. The program was given the name “Project Seahorse”. To enhance low speed handling, it was fitted with a fin fillet extension. This was a standard retrofit for early-series P-51D aircraft. The other modifications were specific to the new naval role of the aircraft.

In any case, when there was need it was possible to use P-51s taking off from plane carriers. It is not necessary that they'd land where they took off of, though they could.

Of course the project never really took, BUT by 1944 there were some flights successfully executed, and there WERE P-51s taking off airplane carriers. Of course they didn't need the carriers by the time they were able to really use the navalized mustangs, because they'd gained ground in the war, but the point is that such mustangs WERE a reality.

That, I think, gives us enough poetic license to just go ahead and use a nice flight of mustangs for our airfight, and enjoy the damn birds in action!

If you are still feeling the story is ruined for you, then I'm sorry. :(

  • bravo1102 at

I was wrong. P-51s did fly off of carriers in the Med in late 1942 and early 1943. Feel free to kick me in the head.

  • bravo1102 at

P-51s never flew off of aircraft carriers. This is painful for me. I so want to like this and it's ruined for me. :(
