Issue 2 Page 9

Lesson learned from this page: on a large panel, even if you know the word balloons are going to cover up a lot of the space around the characters, it's a good idea to have at least some background going on. I didn't mean to rush it here, I really thought this would look better. Honest injun.

I drew this page on August 13th, the day the world found out Mike Wieringo had died. It's therefore dedicated to him. Rest in peace, Mike.

You know, I don't think it was that bad, since you did do a good job of establishing the scene beforehand.

Cool. I like how you inked the shirt on the first panel and also the last one.

I really like the contrast and I'm very jealous when I see this effect as I'm noy very good with it myself.

I only miss some detail on the background as the page feels a little bare.

@TheMidge - thanks a TON for all the comments, and I'll go and get caught up on bloodhound to return the favor as soon as I have time. Update tomorrow - stay tuned!

The last panel is great…the raw stifled emotion…well-done. That panel needs to be bigger or its own page, IMO.

I read through the archive and left comments as well here and there…great job! I am looking forward to see how this turns out!

    DAJB - thanks!

Lemniskate - it's funny, my script originally said he was crying in that last panel, but then I opted for this instead because I thought it was too much.

Dad suffering in the last panel is great. I know this expression from my dad, when he's trying not to cry.

Looks good. With or without backgrounds!
