Introducing the newest vampire to the cast, Darkblood Moonshade Shadowsnake!

Unbeknownst to me at the time of developing this idea yeaaars ago, there's a whole thing in the Vampires: The Masquerade game with the concept of cannibalizing other vampires called "Diablerie", but without getting too much into it, this comic as whole apparently has more in common with another White Wolf game; Exalted, than VTM ╮(─▽─)╭ (much later though!)

At any rate, this guy is a Spawned-category vampire, an undead human. Nobody gets a fancy "Interview with a Vampire"-style magic makeover when they turn, if you're an ugly cuss of a human, you get to be an ugly cuss of a vampire. But as a vampire, you can turn other people into vampires and they'll be your thrall thanks to a little magic whammy vampires put on those they turn, hence this guy having a coven to speak of despite being such a huge dork.

However, he can increase his powers and his sphere of influence by getting an upgrade: devouring the heart of a vampire in a more powerful bloodline such as a Pureblood. If he just eats the hearts of his coven all he'll get is full (and lonely!) but the real juicy stuff comes from Ancient vampires, but good effin' luck taking down something like that!

DMS here sees Charby and assumes he's a "living vampire", as Purebloods are; and even better he's a young one who'll be easy to kill…

Vampire brats outside of the actual Vampire Kingdom are rare, and since this guy has a coven of his own that means he's not living with them. Whatever power any vampire, especially a lowly Spawn, has over their thralls, the King's power is way stronger.

It's probably silly to suppose that there's too many "new" readers reading this since I think this is barely registering it exists right now, but a Welf is a creature living in Kellwood that Charby has not yet encountered so he assumed this guy meant to say "Whelp" and having been called that before, he doesn't appreciate it.
