I enjoyed captain Zap. Your ideas are ambitious.
Jessica Abel
…there was something about it that made me put it at the top of my read pile. “Captain Zap” sets the reader off on a journey that forces him to examine himself as an individual while the characters do the same. this isn’t a comic to be glanced at, this is a comic to read and think about.

A buddy comic for the space ages. Recommended

Yikes! Samuel Beckett has been reincarnated as a vcr remote and abducted by aliens! Can’t wait for issue 2!

Very innovative!

It was cool meeting you. I read your books as soon as i got them. If i were you, I’d start thinking about getting a brush because that’s my only criticism of your work because
1. the idea/story is great
2. your design sense is good
3. you gotta a good sense of humor
4. you obviously care about what you are doing.
I think you have a real future ahead of you and I hope you draw until your hands fall off. Shit. You are doing it for the right reasons. Also, you know how to get along with people!
Mary Fleener
A funny deceptively simple story! Says a lot in a minimalist way. Required reading for anyone who feels like a disenchanted robot
Roberta Gregory
At first glance i took Captain Zap to be a parable of the way modern capitalism turns us all into machines, chanting A-1 mantra’s “produce, perform, conform…”. But then i caught my calculator reading it. and then the tv remote, the stereo, the fax machine and the microwave all started to play up. Frankly, i think this comic is dangerous. If you see one burn it
immediately, before your household appliances get hold of it and start thinking for themselves….

Don’t let Captain Zap fool you - there are some very complex themes lurking in Oliver Simonsen’s simple story telling. Simonsen just may be opening up a philosophical can of worms - and i plan to be there when he does!

I found captain zap to contain a great use of sequential art techniques, with the deceptively simple art and story concealing a number of serious themes. A breeze to read and very funny in places. A-1 is a great little character
and ripe for merchandising possibilities. I also really liked the unhurried pace of the strip.
Gary Spencer Millidge
I really enjoyed the disenchanted robot’s dilemma. Don’t we all feel trapped in a routine programmed for us by jobs, authority figures, and financial commitments? And don’t we all find the compromises we make for our contentment repulsive at times? Your comic captured this and more in a cute and compelling manner.
