A Delay in Data Processing

Some days you really have to wonder why you were born with a brain when you never use it in a situation like this.

This kind of fits up with a work experience I had today. I work at a restaurant and I'm new to this place, so though I have some experience I try my best to keep my mind open to new ideas that I haven't encountered in my previous places of work.

In a nutshell: I take people on their word.

So when my co-worker asked me to do some special sidework for Sunday closing, I said "Sure. What's up?"

"Just take a pitcher, and drain the water out of the coffee machine."

This sounded odd, as I have never encountered sidework such as this before. But I said, "Alright," and went to it.

As I pulled the hot water tab, I stared at the coffee machine, noticing the little hose in the back, but thinking nothing of it.

About seven pitchers in, I really notice the hose. That looks a whole lot like the one behind the tea machine at my old restaurant, I thought, and I know that that machine couldn't be removed from the wall because that hose was it's water connectionOHSONOFABITCH!

Seven pitchers in and I realized it was the newbie prank.

I take things like this in stride. Thank science they didn't send me across the street to get their "Bacon Stretcher" from another restaurant.

Anyone else have any "newbie prank" stories?
