Can I Has Status Update?
Aaronthewolf onMax updates his Sketchbook page, but it appears Max's account has been somewhat compromised. His friends seem to get a kick out of it though.
So we see a return of The Cartoon U-niverse's (I love that phrasing) most popular social networking site Sketchbook. Obviously styled after you know which site. I was actually debating whether or not I would shift the look to reflect the current FB look with timelines and all that garbage. But then I decided, hey I'm the author, maybe they can have a website that doesn't change it's format every 6 weeks. The design actually turned out way better then I ever thought it would, and you may have noticed that some elements are taken from its design for my banner and backdrop for the series. If I eventually move to my own host and actually figure out my comic archiving software stuff, It would take much of it's elements from the Sketchbook design.
As I mentioned in a previous strip, I wanted to make use of these in universe web pages to give more depth of character when appropriate. Mako has his letters to home, Cameron his unpopular blog, and Max his SB. These strips create a venue for the characters to express backstory elements that would take a large chunk of space on screen and block out characters or a series of events that were too long running to draw and may not necessarily have a punch line. I try to end every comic on a funny note, a beat point, but this is both a comedy and a character growth story. I want you to get attached to these characters, somehow relate to them. Find elements in them that remind you of yourself, friends, loved ones. The Cartoon part is one half of the equation, the other half is the finding yourself that college brings.
