A Rude Awakening

Mako awakes on a sleepy morning to find an unwelcome surprise invading his personal space.
I had a bit of trouble conveying motion in this comic, Illustrator is a great program but I'm limited in some capacities. But maybe I'm missing a skill, I don't really know. It was either this or stretch and squash, but in comic panels thats not the most asthetically pleasing option. I think I basically have my background scenery style down, only took…what a year. (Urg). But I'm still working on refining the characters individual looks.
Theres a little nod to one of my absolute favorite shows in this one, and it'll probably be as direct a reference as I get in the future. I'm trying to build this universe off the concepts of the real stuff, hence the fun with knock off franchise characters. I don't want to make blatant mentions or references to jokes and specific shows, sort of name dropping, and I certainly don't want to retread used material. In essence this comic is it's own thing with its own ideas and jokes, but also an homage, and the homage must never surpase the original content. But who knows, I talk all puritain now, but if this keeps going, or I get asked to do something with this and start rolling in fame money (unlikely), maybe I'll get lazy with my writing as all shows seem to do.
