Aaronthewolf onSo here we go, the Samhain's Wain (Halloween) story arc, 2 weeks later than I wanted to start it. What can I say, I've still been animating various cartoons. I'm working on content for Fanfriction while still balancing my comic and the animation time for Little Black Brick was about 2 weeks over estimated completion date. Frame by Frame is a devourer of time, a Stygian abyss of effort for very little actually content. lol.
Anyway, I should explain exactly why I'm not just using "Halloween", and have instead substituted Samhain's Wain in it's place. Early on while coming up with the lore for the series I came across an interesting dilemma, well two actually. One, a significant period of cartoon history were cartoons made in response to the world war, and two, (this is the more pertinent one) Religion played into some cartoons, and religious elements especially. So the question was "exactly how do I handle these elements in connection to the C.Universe. I could either completely avoid both topics, or reconstitute them into something that is similar but different and pertains to that world because inevitably I was going to reach a point where I broached the subject. So i decided that the C.Universe should most likely have it's own traditions and religions, especially with such a diverse range of species. Much of our worlds religions probably wouldn't hold up too well in such a world of variety. So I recast the holidays, keeping and combining traditions as we know them and branding them under the names of old religious holidays, in this case the Pagan/Celtic Samhain.
In this case I liked the name, but also in this world the big religions never existed and the stigma of different beliefs didn't edge other religions out. So these are holidays that kept the names given from old traditions, even though the C.Universe has it's own religions that I'll probably touch on later. As for the world war elements, that I'm going to save for another time.
See you next week.
