Beating down a passive, nonthreatening dinosaur that completely outranks you in size with a chunk of wood is just the kind of manly activity that would cheer you up right now. In fact, simply picking up the club increases your previously diminished "Unbridled Joy" stat a little.
But it's not quite high enough for you to have the enthusiasm necessary to run out of this cave with reckless abandon.
