This was back when we were still looking for a "hook" for chuck. Nate and ryan already had pretty definate personalities, but chuck was often just "the other guy who was there" so we developed this whole "posing" aspect for him. We end up using this far less nowadays but his strong desire to be cool still acts as a motivation.

I like to think the best way to characterize our characters is what we're interested in. Chuck is more into "manly" things, like camping, the army, rock and roll, your regular tough guy stuff. Nate is more about nostalgia, the stuff he liked as a kid is the stuff he's still fixated on, thundercats, NES, ducktales, stuff like that. Ryan's main intrest is spiteing everyone else. But if we were going to go into interests it would focus mainly on comic books and getting laid. You see this more when we get into "who would win" comics, nate tends to back guys like the trix rabbit, ryan backs guys like batman, and chuck backs guys like kiss.
