Interesting fact: Hot dogs were most likely invented by a couple of German immigrants, Anton and Antoine Feuchtwanger. Originally, the weeners were served together with white gloves, so that the customers wouldn't burnt their fingers. However, they didn't always give the gloves back - hence the idea to serve hot dogs in a bun, instead.
