I decided as we were going across Zenan Bridge that I wanted to make this reference, so I specifically wrote this comic so I could use the reference rather than trying to squeeze it into next comic, which I couldn't really do.
True, Ash wasn't talking to the skeleton warriors, but I felt the reference would make more sense if Lucca was. It doesn't seem so random now. She's in the past and she's pulling out her boomstick.
