For some reason, I keep imagining Magus with Archer's voice (from the FX show "Archer") and Zeal having Archer's mother's voice. (She also played Lucille Bluthe on Arrested Development.)
They just have this love/hate mother's boy thing and that's kind of what's going on here…except it's more of a hate/hate mother's boy thing going. Well…I guess Archer has that, too.
Also, I think I'm emphasizing the mother/son relationship more than the game did at this point. You see some, but it's not scripted as much here in Chrono Trigger because you don't HAVE to use Magus for the Black Omen, I don't think.
