A large problem I've just recently overcome is comparing myself to other artists. Like the endless styles of martial arts from hard karate to fluid kung fu, there are endless styles of artwork.
Just recently have I gotten the confidence to draw MY way and not compare myself to Jim Lee, Dave Cassady, or George Perez. One of the biggest things that got me over the edge was when Cloud Eagle was the feature web comic. It was listed as a mix of eastern & western comics. That EXACTLY what I'm going for and the realization that someone got it made it all worth it.
Looking at this page, I can see the progress I've made. Solid and clean line work yet with the addition of speedlines. I'm not comparing the comic itself either to Batman, the X-Men, or whatever…I'm seeing it as Cloud Eagle. :)
