I went back and forth on whether or not to specify that Niko and Akira were speaking Japanese to each other here. In the end, I decided that in this particular instance, it doesn't really matter, since nobody else is directly responding to what they're saying to each other. So, feel free to imagine they're speaking Japanese, or not, as you wish.
In general, I tend to have them speak English as a courtesy to other English-speaking characters that are around- I think I've only had one or two pages where it's been exclusively the Tanakas and it's been necessary to note what language they're speaking. But if they're just speaking amongst themselves and don't have guests, they default to Japanese.
