LoorTheDarkElf onHello again everyone! As promised, let's talk about the one exception to almost all the rules of magic in this universe.
Nom'ny.
Nom'ny is a type of magic that has no elemental affilation. The people who practice it give up their ties to the Goddesses in order to use powers that instead feed off of the lives of themselves and those around them. Nom'ny can be used to cast illusions at the expense of one's own apperance, drain life from others to lengthen the life of the mage, control the minds of others while slowly destorying them, or magically enhanse one's physical abilites while the magic corrodes their bones and flesh. As you might guess, since pretty much all Nom'ny involves SOMEONE getting crippled or murdered, it's forbidden magic.
Calling a Summoner a 'witch' is an insult that suggests they use Nom'ny; one of the worst things in the book to call someone.
Once a mage has turned to using Nom'ny, there is no going back. They cannot go back to their elemental magic, and their markings vanish. When a Nom'ny mage is found out by the temple, one of two things always happens. If the mage has only harmed themselves with it, they suffer a ritual known as Stro'kiri; this strips a mage of ALL of their magical ability and leaves them without; they become Natox. If the mage has harmed someone other than themselves, the penalty is death.
Nasty stuff, huh?
