Smart Smiley

Smart Smiley is one half of the evil "Smiley Cousins." He and his brother, "Stupid Smiley," are a constant thorn in the side of their cousins the "Smiley Triplets", Skinny, Sad and Super. He is insanely jealous of his three cousins because his own serious nature doesn't allow for him to have the kinds of fun and adventure that they do. So, he kids himself into thinking that they are wasting their lives with such frivolity and has made it his goal to destroy their lives. Basically, if he can't have any fun, then no one can. A lot of it comes from the fact that his own mother, "Screwy Smiley," is a fun loving foolish woman herself who never paid much attention to him or his brother, since all she wants to do is dance her life away, and their father, "Sick Smiley," is a sociopath street thug, so it's no wonder Smart has such a chip on his shoulder and sense of superiority.

Smart was created with the intention of having a character based upon a "neutral" or "serious" face, hence the straight line look to his mouth. The dark sunglasses for his "eyes" were my idea towards making him look more like a no-nonsense kind of guy whom you could never really know what he was thinking behind such a static emotionless face since you couldn't see his real eyes behind them, plus they really compliment his attire of always being in a suit, just like the image of a tough guy mobster, which he somewhat is since he works in the employ of his villainous uncle as his right-hand man.

I also mentioned above that Smart ironically has a heart for his symbol even though he is quite the heartless individual, being all brains and no emotion. This was completely intentional as every member of the family has some kind of shape, or at the very least an area of their clothing where the letters "SS" appear indicating that they are a member of the family … and whether or not these initials are within a specific shape or not, wherever it appears for each of them is kind of their symbol. In the case of the triplets, Skinny has a square, Super a triangle, and Sad a circle. There really isn't much meaning behind Skinny having a square other than it was just supposed to be like a patch on his shorts where his initials to go, but it also nicely compliments the other two to create the classic combo of circle, square, and triangle for the overall logo for the team. Super was of course given a triangle because he is of course a parody of Superman, and that leaves Sad with a circle, mainly to represent his relationship to water from his constant tears.
