I'm having trouble understanding how loot works exactly.

We can go over it real quick.

Realm Task
Harvest 10 Blood Vine.

In your realm task menu it shows a range.

Rewards
1 1-12 Equipment

That range is always between 1 and the realm's ring number.

You have acquired…

When a piece of equipment drops, a random number is rolled within that range.

1 <= 8 <= 12

That is the rank the equipment will drop at.
