I had some mixed feelings on this page. I like the composition and layout of the page and all, it just doesn't stand on its own very well. One page not standing on its own is fine for long form stories and graphic novels I guess, but when it's a weekly webcomic it can be obnoxious to read and leave people disappointed. Cricket's Creature is certainly a long form story, but is it more of a weekly webcomic or a graphic novel? At this point I'm not really sure, then again I might just be being neurotic as usual.

Speaking of "mixed feelings," after a lot of consideration I'm going to start uploading another of my minicomics to Arbitrary Comix. It's kind of an old one but a lot of people seemed to like it, I just wasn't sure if it was a good idea to post it on DD or not.
As my room mate pointed out, Cricket's kind of a jerk on this page.

@usedbooks: Cricket might be willing to bargain for some things, probably not this though. Whether she feels some guilt over her brother or not, she's actually starting to like Creature. I know what you mean by the 2am brain clog… I have that most of the day!
@magickmaker: Yeah, as you've pretty much got Higgins pegged! Thank you, and everyone else for the vote of confidence even though I didn't win. Scorch ended up winning, although I think I can live with being beaten by the best. Honestly, I'm glad to have been in the same category such stellar comics. I'm not really seriously putting myself down, self-deprecation is how I find humor in situations!

@amanda: I guess he's a little bit like a puppy. And yes, much more polite than most dogs. If you remember earlier in the comic Cricket says that he reminds her of a dog that she used to have named "Creature" which is where she got the name. Curiously when I first drew Creature I wasn't thinking of a dog at all. I thought of a cross between a cat, a monkey, and an insect.
