It's been a while since I've drawn Dart and Davey. I'm starting to have fun with Dart as a character and I like how sinister he looks on this page. As for my impending hiatus, which is still a couple updates away, I thought it might be kind of neat to have a few guest comics. Would anyone be down for that? If nothing else I'll plug your comic and tell everyone how awesome you are! Speaking of awesome people and their comics and me plugging them Cricket and Creature made a couple special appearances at Gelotology: http://www.drunkduck.com/Gelotology/ and the Faction: http://www.drunkduck.com/The_Faction/ ———————————— replies: @usedbooks: Yeah, I can see why you thought Creature was falling asleep. I was never really able to get someone shaking his head "no" to look right in a comic, hence the "nuh-uh" caption. Plus Cricket talking a movie she saw about her tenth birthday isn't the most exiting of things. The magical vs. mundane was pretty much what Cricket was trying to say, only less articulately. @Zephyrion: Thanks! @chris_wastewater: I think Creature is slightly less familiar with the valley than Cricket. As for what he thinks of Westerns, he's probably not to sure about whether he likes it or not. I think this is where cultural differences between humans and aliens come in. @Peipei: When I thought of a story for the movie I thought of what I think of as a kind of generic cowboy movie but might be something fun. As for what the valley's like I basically imagined pretty much any wooded valley from northern California to British Columbia. @magickmaker: Oh, I'm sure Creature could see the magic in the right kind of movie. Not this one though. @PIT_FACE: Yeah, I got to admit that I sort of like Westerns. They're something I have to be in the right mood to watch though. @amanda: I have a decidedly different attitude towards places from movies than Cricket. Seeing a picture of something rarely compares to seeing the real thing. In all honesty after having spent her entire life a big polluted city with hardly any trees at all going to a remote forest would probably blow her mind. That's a really great story about your mom visiting New York by the way. @Warped: Fer sure. Speaking of which, it's been quiet over there. I might have to go back and hurt someone. @JNP: "Drappy…" I like that word, I'm going to start using that as soon as I find out what that means. I even tried to look it up earlier. Making stuff up as you go is a great way to do comics, at least I think so! I didn't really notice that your movie seats folded weird, though looking back the one next to Sally doesn't seem to be folded… is this what you meant? Maybe it's one of those kind of theatre seats that locks down? Maybe it's a *future* theatre seat! @ulthor: Marx Brothers! @Trevor: Oh, I constantly sacrifice sleep. Not really having a weekend I have to spread it out over the week– which is why I seem hung-over most of the time. @Steely_Gaze: I thought that it was a good fit too, and it was fun to draw in a slightly different style. I was worried that Cricket's recollection might seem a little heavy-handed writing-wise, but I always think that when I put in exposition. I'm glad that it went over OK though. Thanks! @Ludeshka: Definitely, Creature doesn't have the same happy memories of this movie that Cricket does.
