OK, I'm not sure how clear the whole sequence came out in the end so the big reveal on this page is that Cricket actually didn't put anything in the shipping crate, which had some nice vases in it. Her plan was basically have the cops chase after her while Creature made his getaway with Ollie. The crate bit was just something that she did to mislead them. Of course Cricket's plan hit a snag when she got caught. Can't win 'em all I guess. I'm glad that the previous page seemed to get the reaction I was going for. I'm also going to try to get another page up on Friday, then I'm going to take a break from this comic to focus on other projects for a little while. (One of these said projects is top secret! Mystery!) ———————————- replies: @ulthor: I always knew that you were reliable. Now act surprised! (Kidding.) @Peipei: Higgins is arrogant and has some unfortunate assumptions about people like Cricket which leads him to underestimate her. To his credit, he's not been aquainted with her for very long. @usedbooks: Now that you mentioned it nearly all of the fights that I've drawn are fairly one-sided, including those ones I did for VUS a while back. But like you said, sometimes it's more believable that way. Mr. Prescott is an inhumanly strong, scary giant, Cricket reasonably doesn't stand a chance. It was actually supposed to be kind of subtle– Higgins discovered the hiding place by following Cricket's glance. @Zephyrion: I kept second guessing that too. I wasn't sure if it looked like Prescott hit her hard enough to reasonably give her the bloody nose. I guess it *mostly* works. @chris_wastewater: Damn! I had to redraw this page 'cause you guessed it! In all seriousness I wish I'd thought of that. @amanda: Hilarity indeed! I would like to see Creature running off with the hat with Higgins in pursuit, "Come back with my magical hat!" That would be a bizarre twist if Prescott turned out to be polite and considerate. Nope, no such luck. @Trevor: Have you considered getting drunk and drawing a 24 hour minicomic? I'd probably buy one! @JNP: Well, of course you like doing fight scenes, you're awesome at them! Part of what makes the Devon Legacy fight scenes work so well is that the plot progression isn't slowed down because of them and they look very dynamic. I've drawn quite a few fight scenes that looked stilted and dull in my older comics, it was much later that I decided that I didn't want to do fight-heavy comics anymore. @crazyninny: Haha! I'm sure she appreciates you standing up for her. @Warped: Thanks! And yes, she'll probably be feeling that one tomorrow.
