The Mad Monk, Melmoth, translating old texts on alchemy and unholy incantations. He repeatedly mentioned "the Messenger" in a lot of his writings. Writings that inspired the SS to research the "Pockets of Creation".

F.G. Woodcase would eventually write about the Mortibus, a collection of writings by Melmoth, in his horror and fantasy stories.
