Chapter 7, Page 26

Neilsama
on

We keep giving Dan all of these exposition pages, even though his real strength is with action pages. I think he's batting these out of the park, regardless. Don't worry. I'm sure his strengths will be showcased here, sooner or later. Hee… hee… hee…

So, we had to get rid of Goldie. She doesn't serve any purpose to the story beyond this chapter. We've sent her back to her home reality, along with an induced case of amnesia, courtesy of Mindmistress.

And look who's there to welcome her home. This is what happens when you have me editing the chapter. I start slipping in running gags from Dasien.

I remember Dave… I kept wondering who he was and how he was significant to the story, lol. I have a running gag in one of my works, but no one has noticed it yet, ha ha. Great work on this page. Hope to see him do some action pages soon! :-)

So, I know Goldie doesn't remember anything from her time with the Crossoverlord, but does Goldie at least remember she's a villain? She seems she's lost a few years, ha ha. lol

Cool looks good. Can't wait for the next page.

What Lightbringer doesn't know won't hurt him.

Lightbringer might squawk about mindwiping goldie on general principles.

Dave must be nice guy if he's volunteering at a homeless shelter.

Even though Goldie's a moron, she had been exposed to a lot of dangerous information during her stay in Grin World. Knowledge of other technologies from other worlds. Better that she doesn't remember any of that.

Putting her in jail might have logistical problems, should she wake up in police custody without having been read any rights. A lawyer's dream.

This seemed to be the most humane place to put her. And as I had told Al months ago, it seemed like something Mindmistress would do.

    great page.
    Anyway why the mind wipe?
They could just threw her in jail with complete memories or a desert island or something??

Just a suggestion, Neil, you might link to one of Dasien's comics where that running gag appeared before.
Well, normally I wouldn't, but I might as well point to one that's actually NOT in the archive. This one is from the anthology.

Running gags are funniest when you don't see them coming in the archive. Dave appearances are pretty random, and I try not to spoil them for first time readers.

Y'know mind-wipes aren't that popular these days, since IDENTITY CRISIS, but having a heroine who can make others forget things—and can also cross dimensions–comes in VERY handy.

And hey, the Smiling Man would have done a lot WORSE to her for letting them go…

Just a suggestion, Neil, you might link to one of Dasien's comics where that running gag appeared before.

There's something about this page that's oddly familiar, almost as if…oh that's right….I drew it! Silly me.

This page is unique in that, instead of being experimental with my panel design like I usually do with guest pages (Hey, it's not my comic!), I went for a very uniform "watchmen" look. One of the reasons being that the outline that Neil gave me was crazy!

I also really enjoyed drawing Ultra here. I've yet to read "Point Guardian", but drawing Ultra kind of reminded me of the old days of BGH, back when Dan still wore a T-shirt for his costume.
