Alec's story continues from this point on Page 1.
Brooke's story continues on Page 219.

I almost didn't create this little flashback into Alec's past… mostly from just wanting to get on with the story. But I realized that we technically hadn't seen Alec's inciting incident, and for most other characters we had. I was hoping this would shed a little light on Alec's motivations and let you know what was expected of him. You probably noticed the discrepancy between what he was asked to do and what he plans to do. Examining his character a little bit, maybe you can begin to understand why.
