You know when we look back at all the mega-crisis events in comics how many does anyone remeber fondly except maybe for Crisis on Infinite Earth.

How many people fondly remember:

The Infinity War
The Infinity Gauntlet
The Infinity Crusade
Blackest Night
Zero Hour
Onslaught Saga
Heroes Reborn
Armageddon 2001
Underworld Unleashed

Just to name a few. And while I know they are more worried about selling comics today then they are about how people might or might not laugh at them tomorrow but it just seems that inspite of the countless awful mega events that both DC and Marvel are just going completely NUTS trying to have bigger and more sweeping events to derail all their character and storylines.

Thank goodness web comics are not forced to cave to this. It really gives me hope someday web comics might really be viable competition for super hero comics. Of course if that ever becomes the case then marvel and DC will just buy a few and find ways to meddle them to death but at least that would be progress…sort of.
