Note: Prinnies aren't random penguins. They are souls of human beings repenting for their sins, they are reincarnated as Prinnies and must earn enough money to reincarnate once again as their normal selves, except with a cleansed soul. In the Netherworld they are abused by their employers for little pay, while in Celestia (Disgaea's "heaven") they are treated okay and with higher pay.
Needless to say, if you reincarnate as a Prinny in the Netherworld, things aren't great.
