Daidal Tapestry
Author notes
Chapter 1, page 8 - Into the City
shirtgoth onThe teeth were a rat bastard to render, but I think I'm happy with them.
Just so ya know, the blue tape standing in at the panel divisions is your clue the page is not really finished, from an art perspective. I will update the pages with color as I get to it - right now, telling the story takes precedence for me.
The next section is going to sport a rather different layout though, I think. I am not really sure I want to devote a whole page of art to a few lines of text - and I don't mean single-page images. Some of the subtle interactions seem to call for many frames, which is a *lot* of drawing. I love the story, but I just don't yet have time to make a new page every day, and I refuse to drag this single chapter out any longer than I have to.
I've also spent a lot more time working with Mark on the dialogue for this chapter, and that's been something of a surprise. For whatever reason, we've both had trouble fleshing out the rough arcs into something readable.
I would like to believe we wouldn't have fallen this far behind if the mundane things hadn't gotten repeatedly fubar'd, but I suspect it might be that my desire to speed up the pace of the story is just too tempting a target for the Fates. We're *really* working on getting a page a week posted. Please, bear with us! Understand that just to meet that goal right now I'm trying to get two to three pages composed and inked every week, slog through as much painting-in as humanly possible, advise on text layout and proofread the final copy. Oh and there's always the bagillion other things that need painted/made. Oh and updating the blog. And the etsy. And the devart.
If I contemplate how many hours I throw at this one project, I tend to hyperventilate, so I try not to, honestly.
Sleep is for the weak. Enjoy the page.
