Chapter 1, Page 19 - The Overseer's Z'lar

Slightly different format.
What do you think?
…
No, not about the boobs. Sheesh.
I've been kicking this arc around the studio for almost a year now: I am relieved to finally have it out in the open… but… I've mostly lived with it in my head. it wasn't until this week that I actually popped the thing into illustrator and tried to transform the painting into the image in my head.
Now, bear in mind, on the original page all the area above the dias is white. Plain, unpainted white paper. This is because in the coming pages I need bare scraps of page to illustrate the almost novel-form that this arc takes, and conservation is good. It also meant I didn't have to fiddle with tape to get this one done. Portable = good.
How well does the dialogue read? I was able to dispense with the because we can pretty fairly assume that all characters within hearing range speak this shadow tongue. For formatting's sake, I could not move Thalia's speech too far to the right, else I would have got but a quarter of the text on there, and then what is the point of these single page doodads? The subtle cues on this page alone would have taken two to render in frame fashion: I shudder to think how long it would take to get through this arc in the standard way.
So what I'm asking is: how can I more successfully achieve the desired result? I may have lived with the idea too long to see my way to a clear format.
Good lookin' elf though, if I do say so myself.
