This week's page didn't take as long to complete as usual. Unfortunately, I find no joy in this. For many years our cat, Patches, would be stretched across my lap as I worked at the drawing table, the easel or the computer. I would frequently be required to scratch his head or rub his chin. As you can imagine, this would slow down things a bit.

This won't be the case anymore. Patches, at the age of fourteen and a half years, lost his battle with old age and illness. I no longer have to pet him, or be interupted by him rubbing his head against my arm or chin while I work. Without these distractions, I will be able to finish projects quicker, but without his companionship and affection, the studio will seem awfully empty.

My wife and I will miss him terribly.
