Well, it is Friday, and I hope it is a happy one for you. It has been a sad day around here. We had to have one of our cats put to sleep today. Dexter was nearly 17 years old, and was suffering from cancer. We tried to make his last days as comfortable as we could, but his condition worsened this week. 

I have had to put down several pets in my life, but I will never be able to do so without feeling sadness and guilt. I know it was the humane thing to do, and I hated the idea of Dexter suffering in the pain he exhibited today. Still, I feel like I betrayed his trust.

I recently read something about the death of a pet cat. It went something like this: "Cats - they steal our food, and they steal our hearts."

So very true.
