Despite their names, Flame Imps are not, in fact, demons, but are a form of undead.

True Imps are, in fact, fallen cherubim* and as such are second only to the fallen seraphim in power. they are often used as messengers into the world of mortals, because their smaller size makes them easy for mortals to underestimate. To do so is to tempt excruciating fate, as they have a malicious streak a mile wide a and as deep as the abyss.

*the second highest rank of angel, for some reason they are often depicted as winged babies. I'm not entirely sure why.
