Every so often, the gods see fit to incarnate themselves into the world, to perform mighty tasks, and and create or thwart great evils, through vessels known as Avatars*. Avatars can be born, as babies or fully formed, or they can be turned into Avatars from normal mortals, under certain circumstances. The second avatar of Kul-Takaroth, pictured here, went missing soon after incarnating. so did several artifacts from other temples. Nothing was ever proven, though, although Kul-Takaroth was somewhat unpopular among the gods for some time afterwards.
