The Deadman's Missive (a poem)

Hurricane Ivan
on

I've fought my last fight, drawn my last breath,
And passed into the gates of death.
I took what I took, gave What I gave,
And now I moulder in the grave.
But death comes to all men, one and the same,
So do not curse him in my name.
For all he makes us wail and sob,
He's just a bloke that does a job.
And as I sleep through endless night,
I'll mouth the words: “She Will be right.”
So when you too become a sleeper-
Don't forget to tip the reaper!

I'm not entirely sure what inspired me to write this. but i hope you enjoy it anyway.
