Those extra mouths seem to have minds of their own. They just ate up the stuff without Saturno wanting to eat them.

Dem: "Hmmm…looking few pages back, it seems he has eaten about half of the hand already"
You are right. The hand was partially eaten, but most of it was just inside the mouth. Not quite eaten.

Custard Trout: "Saturno's going through another change? Finally, 't'as been a while."
Saturno has been slowly changing since the beginning of chapter 9. Sorry it's not the rapid changing like the Beast story arc.
