I think this was a mistake for Saturno. It's not THE mistake, but it's a pretty bad one. Saturno practically admits that s/he is mooching off the club.

Demons can feel hunger. The more a demon eats the more they want to eat. It only said in the first chapter that the demon spawn don't feel hunger. As the spawn grow they evolve to feel hunger. (the ones that don't usually die.)

Eating for demons is a very pleasurable experience like human blood for vampires and cake for humans. I think the stuff in the food and something else is influencing Saturno's hunger pains.

Evil Emperor Nick: "Oh and question how much control do they have over their body's look? I know the focus on human shape and they can choose to develop certain abilities but do they still look freakish because it is functional? Or is it more a point that this is as close to human as they can approximate at this time? For example if Saturno wanted could he copy human skin or grey with feathers as close as he can approximate right now?"

With shape shifting, some creatures are better at controlling it than others. Shapeshifting is an art. It's like how well can you mold clay into something really realistic?
Some can mold their body very well becoming virtually anything. Some are limited to what genetic material they have collected from the creatures they eat. Others can only change randomly after they eat something. ..And some others can't even change at all.
The thing with the club, changing one's body can be very difficult. It's like me trying to mold a perfect bust of my head with clay. I don't think I would be able to get it to look exactly like me. In the case of Saturno… I don't think looking exactly like a human is a first priority as we can see with the current scenario.
How morphing goes in this story, I don't think we're going to see super changers like a demon looking like a clone of another…like Envy of FMA or you know what I mean.. the really talented shapeshifters would be more like Beast Boy from Teen Titans. Not perfect, but still a large range of different forms.

I'm getting a lot of good guesses for "what's in the food?" You will find out for sure what's in it next chapter.
