Today's Digital Nonsense comes to us from the RPG Star Ocean(let's see, I believe the original rights belong to Tri-Ace, and I think the remake character designs, setting, etc belong to Squarenix; obviously the only thing that belongs to me would be these particular drawings and the comic, the design, setting, etc belongs to those companies) and describes an occurance that seems to happen in some RPGs. You see, sometimes RPGs limit their players by saying they don't know how or cannot use weapons and armor they already have (see FF12). But I think the identification system in Star Ocean is my favorite example. I mean, I get that you would nee special training to distinguish ?HERB from ?HERB, but ?WEAPON? I mean, you might not know it's a +15 Sword of Flamey Beef and Awesome, but you'd still figure out that the stabby part is used on others, right?
