Aurora Borealis onWow, was this page a pain to make. I did an exception and scripted the dialogue earlier. This caused a delay, since I had to figure out how to best get to this page, thus making it much longer to make the three preceeding pages. Nevermind that, wasn't that big delay.
But once I got to this page I couldn't make it work. I battled with the layout moving everything around, rearranging the story's furniture… finally had something that seemed to work, but no, once I drew it I knew it sucked, so I gave it another attempt.
Took me ENTIRE DAY to do this one. Of course that wasn't the end of problems. I messed up the shadows on some of the panels, photoshop kept making things difficult (for example reading my wacom as if it was just a mouse, no pressure sensitivity… or worse, polygonal lasso disappearing by itself once I finished it). During lettering I noticed that the middle row is a bit too narrow and the dialogue there doesn't sit as I'd like it to.
And then I have almost destroyed the page when I saved the smaller net version (the one you see) on top of the full resolution photoshop file! Good that I noticed it straight away and managed to undo, save the full version with all the layers, and then save the smaller version where it was supposed to be…
and guess what, I found mistakes in lettering, haha. Had to fix it.
So I am SICK of this page, but also very proud, because despite all the problems I have managed to finish it. And it doesn't look THAT bad either, certainly not the worst page in the comic.
