The story about the banana tree started when my father told me a story about his last week in taiwan. he and a buddy were getting drunk and playing guitar just outside of the barraks of the base that was built on a grove of banana trees. Now, about once a month, some anonymous person would oblitterate huge sections of trees, laying them level to the ground. But in about a week, the banana trees would start to grow again. The story was that no matter how hard anyone tried to keep the base free of these banana trees, they kept coming back. And so, returning to my father, he stopped playing after the MPs had driven by on their patrol and he set his guitar down and went off to smash into the ground a banana tree. he returned and played again as the MPs came by again. As they drove off again, my father's buddy followed suite and smashed a tree. Before long, they had obliterated as many trees as they could see. There was much more laughing and humor to the telling of the story that this, but that's the nutshell version. Okay, well, that one was for my father who died earlier this year. Hope you enjoyed! -S.J. Moyer
