Back on page 31 we were told of a war that ravaged the earth and here we get to witness the result. The landscape is barren and has turned into something resembling a desert without any sign of life. Here we find the father waiting, on the other side.

This destroyed world is referenced many times throughout the comic. Perhaps most notebly on page 10 where the caged man wants to touch the grass, which is now no longer possible.
