Depicted is the fashion used during the 19th century mostly in rural areas of central and southwestern Mexico. The imposers of this fashion were called chinacos, men of both African and Indigenous ancestry that once allowed to use horses by the Spaniards became skilled cavalrymen. The fashion became the predecessor of both the charro and Mariachi outfits.
